PROBLEMS -SOLVING WAYS FOR NIGERIANS TO FOLLOW

GINA WEEKEND COLUMN,

I have so far discussed some major problems with Nigerians and I showed the extent to which those problems hindered our journey as one single and indivisible nation called Nigeria. As the topic above suggest, we will see ways on how some of the issues that affect our progress could be solve and the political philosophy that would be (in my own view) adaptable in our rigid socioeconomic class backgrounds (the stratification between those who have and have-not) and introduce new mechanism for flexibility to meet the challenges of 21 century.
The following are some of the suggestions /recommendations I identified;
Politically,
1. Conditional love/hatred;  unconditional love /hatred means,  that part of our psychology that  forced us to have unconscious love or hatred for or against our politicians regardless of whether they fulfil and protect our interests (what they suppose to have represented) or they harvest our riches and convert public funds to their own'vested interest'.  By extension,  that psychosis  and malfunctioned mentally thinking mindset installed in us to deter our good conscience reasoning to see beyond the restricted horizon which lens is only designed to view the beautified misdeeds of our political oppressors as a blessings that we end up usually applauding and praising. The evil of unconditional love and hatred by most of Nigerians toward their leaders had and still doing a great deal of ravaging in our political arena,  and this patently misguided action is what resulted into the degeneration and decaying of the country's politics. Nigerians are fond of ardently worshiping their political idols and evangelizing their misdeeds desperately to all and sundry who appeared to them not yet to be intoxicated by their 'idols' politico- psychological manipulation drugs. For in this country we need conditional love/hatred -syndrome that we enable million of everyday Nigerians to dilute that drug that make them to nurture the unconditional love/hatred for or against their politicians.  We the masses must begin to develop theory of 'I hate you and you will not have my vote if you are selfish,  merciless, clueless, incompetent leader regardless of either you come from my ethnic, religion or region'. And 'I love you and you will have my vote if you characterized yourself as a competent, selfless,  fruitful, unbiased leader no matter who you are, where you come from or what you look like'.  The sooner we the electorates dropped off the sentimental love/bias in deciding who will lead us, regional politics, baseless and clueless ethino-religion political game, backward democratization of appointments for public offices. Better for our country that couldn't yet made her way from 'new democracy ' to 'liberal Democracy'.

PART-THREE: THE PROBLEMS WITH NIGERIANS

A continuation of last week column;
3.     NONCHALANT ALTITUDE: One of the major problems with Nigerians both the leaders and the followers is the nonchalant attitude in dealing with core issues that affect our living in the society. For the leaders they show their nonchalant attitude in the way and manner they handle our problems politically, socially and economically in the sense that the leaders wouldn't proffer solutions to the immediate problems affecting their people. All they do is to half-execute political projects just to lure the electorates to win their votes on the election day. And the worst part of it, is they will never offer the masses a sustainable development,but rather give them insatiable things that will not last for years. The portrait of Nigeria politicians and the electorates, is like a fowl and her master. The master will not throw corns for his fowl that will sustained her for hours, in order to avoid abandonment that he may likely suffer from the fowl.  But the fowl will always forget her master if she can feed herself from either her friends homes or in an independent search. Just as there is hope for that fowl that one day she will free herself despite the psychological enslavement, there is hope for everyday Nigerians that one day they needed not be oppressed with hunger or threatened by starvation and design destitution if they made a brave steps to choose those who will rule and govern their affairs in the country and not to imposed a leader to them by the  merciless elites . This empty threats but political banter of the politicians depicted in the way they execute their projects like; awarding hajj or Jerusalem visit to some people while they lack good or no  water, decent Healthcare in their respective villages,  spending outrageous money in scholarship while primary and secondary school education is rotting academically and wailing for lack of quality teachers.  Distributing motor bikes and cars to low or no income earners without upgrading their wages or providing them with a source of income. As for the nonchalant attitude of the followers is the business of 'i don't care if it is not from my side'  the people are of the attitude of 'i don't care'  if anything misfortune  befell a  particular region of the country, they show lack of interest 'if such tragedy is not from their own side. The nonchalant attitude of Nigerians is what led to most of the tragic experience that occurred in the country, like When issue of kidnapping evolved from the southern part of the country no one take it seriously from the sisters regions everyone think is the 'problem of the South and not ours' until those kidnappers begun abduction of prominent leaders or their families that is when it becomes 'Nigeria problem'.  Same with the menace of bokoharam its started like a joke from some angry sect of Muslims in northern part of the country who are not satisfied with the way their other Muslims brothers treat them. And people from other regions treat the situation as the 'problem of the muslim north', not until those malicious people lunched  their attack without discrimination or exception to any religion faith. Begun killing innocent people, abducting children, bombing of religious centers, made an attempt to some politicians 'lives, there it become' Nigeria problem '.
The next will be the solution /suggestions to all these and other little problems of Nigerians. There i will make recommendations for the core issues And political philosophy that will be good and adoptable for Nigerians.

PART-TWO: THE PROBLEMS WITH NIGERIANS

GINA WEEKEND COLUMN,

A continuation of last week column;
The problems with Nigeria isn't the amalgamation of 1914, it isn't 1979 republic nor  the failure of the first independent general census. To me the problem started when chief Enahoro tabled for the independence 1954. The total rejection of the motion by some groups and the conspiracy behind it advocacy. That is the root of our problems. And its grandchild is the 1966 coup which gave birth to the gory civil war that lasted in 1970.  From that very moment in our nation, the disparity,  lack of trust,  hatred,  selfishness and ethno-religion sentiment seeds germinated into beautiful green-vegitaton called 'Nigeria of our time'.
A lot of social commentators had written a great deal of the troubled with Nigeria and avoid to write about the core problems with Nigerians. The social errors and vices of the  people of Nigeria, the rotten social orientation in our societies is so pervasive that it's ravaging in the mind of almost all people of Nigeria even within the so-called academics.
Still in on the problems with Nigerians;
2.  CULTURAL STEREOTYPE :In Nigeria today many people think badly about each other cultures,  norms and values. And what a particular group in a society cherished.  It is only in Nigeria where popular culture of the people is not regarded. But people will be busy judging you with those dark ages beliefs and what people of that era considered moral,  just simply because you are incidentally found in that ethnic group. Nigerians doesn't consider that customs of people are flexible and can adopt changing circumstances. Stereotypical misguidance like Northern people are illiterate,  terrorists, pedophiles. While the southern people are; ingrained hypocrisy,  human traffickers, sex-free society. And the Eastern people are;  greedy-ingrained,  sex-workers,  Power mongers etc. All these but few things I mentioned here are typical phrases used against each other society. It is very sad that non of them will spare a time to leave his own society to visit his fellow brother's society and see for himself if it is true of what hearsay fed him of from his childhood, Nigeria is a country where we strongly believe in a 'single story'.  The danger in single story is you will only be told one-sided story about a particular people and their society, which often times is lies and stereotypes and if you don't try to verify it yourself,  you will be misguided by someone whose interest will be invested in the detriment of your ignorance. Thus the general misconceptions chain will continue with stronghold of hatred. The implications of this 'single story' is that,  its doesn't know you are educated or not it can raid your conscience if only you restrict yourself in listening or reading one version of the story of particular people. Even academics and some timid intellectuals are victims of this 'single story '.
What we do forget is that no culture in this world is so special and decent without such particular culture having no its trace from a divine religions. So cultures without device religion is nothing but a mango fruit that shines and rotten inside the seed.  As for Nigerians if are trace our cultures prior to our embrace of religion, none of the cultures will be attractive in this modern time. Believe me ,they will all crumble in face of the heterogeneous world cultural challenge.
