I have so far discussed some major problems with Nigerians and I showed the extent to which those problems hindered our journey as one single and indivisible nation called Nigeria. As the topic above suggest, we will see ways on how some of the issues that affect our progress could be solve and the political philosophy that would be (in my own view) adaptable in our rigid socioeconomic class backgrounds (the stratification between those who have and have-not) and introduce new mechanism for flexibility to meet the challenges of 21 century.
The following are some of the suggestions /recommendations I identified;
Politically,
1. Conditional love/hatred; unconditional love /hatred means, that part of our psychology that forced us to have unconscious love or hatred for or against our politicians regardless of whether they fulfil and protect our interests (what they suppose to have represented) or they harvest our riches and convert public funds to their own'vested interest'. By extension, that psychosis and malfunctioned mentally thinking mindset installed in us to deter our good conscience reasoning to see beyond the restricted horizon which lens is only designed to view the beautified misdeeds of our political oppressors as a blessings that we end up usually applauding and praising. The evil of unconditional love and hatred by most of Nigerians toward their leaders had and still doing a great deal of ravaging in our political arena, and this patently misguided action is what resulted into the degeneration and decaying of the country's politics. Nigerians are fond of ardently worshiping their political idols and evangelizing their misdeeds desperately to all and sundry who appeared to them not yet to be intoxicated by their 'idols' politico- psychological manipulation drugs. For in this country we need conditional love/hatred -syndrome that we enable million of everyday Nigerians to dilute that drug that make them to nurture the unconditional love/hatred for or against their politicians. We the masses must begin to develop theory of 'I hate you and you will not have my vote if you are selfish, merciless, clueless, incompetent leader regardless of either you come from my ethnic, religion or region'. And 'I love you and you will have my vote if you characterized yourself as a competent, selfless, fruitful, unbiased leader no matter who you are, where you come from or what you look like'. The sooner we the electorates dropped off the sentimental love/bias in deciding who will lead us, regional politics, baseless and clueless ethino-religion political game, backward democratization of appointments for public offices. Better for our country that couldn't yet made her way from 'new democracy ' to 'liberal Democracy'.
To be continued .
GINA WEEKEND COLUMN.: I discuss my experience, opinion on Nigeria politics. And give my commentary on the social, economic and cultural happenings. All these are base on my understanding and conviction of Nigeria society. Thus comments and objective criticism are most welcome.
